Safety
Spain's capital, just like other European big cities, attracts not
only tourists. Pick pocketing is very common. In order to avoid pick
pocketing, it's recommended to keep any valuables, important documents
and money in a safe place and not to flaunt in public. A special money
holder can be a good choice. Today you can buy it almost in every
local shop for tourists.
Health Insurance
Before traveling, it's recommended that you contact your insurance
company and find out if its policy applies overseas and which health
expenses it may cover. As a rule, cover is rather limited. It's advisable
to shop around and choose the most appropriate one, as prices and
conditions might vary greatly. There are no vaccination requirements
or other special requirements for international customers visiting
Madrid.
Water
The water is safe to drink throughout Spain, however it's not recommended
to drink the water in mountain streams. If you are not sure, always
use bottled water available in every shop.
Food
Spanish cuisine, with garlic, olive oil, and wine, can be different
from your home cuisine, and it can cause mild diarrhea. It's not recommended
to eat fish and shellfish from the polluted Mediterranean not cooked.
It's also recommended to eat meat well done. |
