The Museo de America (Museum of the Americas) houses the outstanding magnificent collection of pre-Columbian, Spanish- American and Native American art and artifacts from the Paleolithic period to the present day. Everyone who visits this exceptional museum doesn't cease to marvel the variety of its items. The exhibitions vary from the social structure of the different peoples of America to various religions, deities or nonverbal expressions of art. Totally, the Museum of the Americas houses over 25,000 artifacts, mainly from Central America and south, and, in addition, from the northern part. There are displayed various societies which have occupied the Continent and their myths, beliefs, archeological details of different periods at the exhibitions of the museum.

Tudela codex with its colorful pictograms is one of the most outstanding and famous artifacts in the Museo de America. This artifact is the Aztec code of law from around 1553.

Not smaller attention worthy the fabulous Quimbayas treasure of exquisite gold figures and a mummy, dating from the first centuries BC and belonging to Paracas tribe, which inhabited Peru in past.

Another popular attraction of the museum are the Axe - the symbol of the Inca imperial power, Shaman Tapirape Indians' Mask and the Guatemala's embroidered tunic Huipil, which any woman might own not more than three during her life.

Besides, the Museo de America hosts a various programme of seminars, conferences and courses, as well as dance, music, activities for children and theatre. And in addition, the museum has an amazing cafeteria, which is open daily and on Thursdays visitors can estimate here menu of Central and South American dishes.

The admission to the museum is $3.75 for adults, $1.70 for students, free for children 18 and under and seniors over 65.
