He worked in vary directions: from Spanish folk types to the landscapes. The works of the artist are familiar and easily recognizable, particularly his Mediterranean beach scenes. Most of his masterpieces show tranquillity and serene scenes, mainly of sea, children at the beach, women walking on the sand. Besides, Joaquin Sorolla was also an art collector, so the most part of the objects he had collected during his life, such as tiles, sculptures, photographies or ceramics is the exhibitional property of the museum today. Some of the rooms and canvas he was painting just before the death have been left as they were in the lifetime of the artist and few of the rooms are used for hang the works of the master. Besides the mansion-museum the visitors can have an excellent enjoyment from the Andalusian-style garden with fountains, which Joaquin Sorolla had designed by himself. The artist always wanted this house to become a museum for his masterpieces later. The visitors love this place for incomparable designed rooms, amazing impressive paintings and drawings and atmosphere of the pacification and tranquilities. Admission for adults is 2,40 euro and free on Sundays. |
